Taberna Asiática was born from our founfers’ passion for Japanese culture and the tradition of izakayas – the typical Japanese bars that combine good food, drinks and socializing. With a unique concept in Porto, we created a space where the relaxed atmosphere of a tavern blends seamlessly with the excellence of Japanese gastronomy.
Here, we offer an authentic Asian dining experience, featuring highlights sush as ramen, dim sum, bao and a selection of traditional sushi — all prepared with fresh ingredients and authentic techniques. Whether you’re a devoted fan of oriental cuisine or just beginning to explore the flavors of Japan, this is the perfect place to discover and savor them.
Our intimate, softly lit dining room is centered around a bespoke rustic bar and an artistic installation that invites sharing and discovery. Over the years, we have been recognized for the quality of our cuisine and the welcoming experience we provide.

What is an Izakaya?
An Izakaya is a type of Japanese establishment that blends the functions of a restaurant and a bar. Often described as a Japanese tavern, it’s a place where guests enjoy small plates (similar to tapas) alongside a variety of beverages sush as sake, beer, shochu and other traditional drinks.
